Inspection of quay walls
in the harbour of Gent

Structures such as quay walls need to undergo a periodic technical inspection. Because of the impact of time and mooring of ships damages can occur. Also the toes of the construction can become exposed. Because of this the structure loses a part of its strength. By using underwater drones (ROV’s), underwater inspections can be carried out in a safer and more reliable way, depending on the situation. When underwater visibility is insufficient, a sonar can be used which gives a visual of the state of the asset. Depending on the situation and the debt a ROV can be more interesting to deploy then a diver.
