QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam – Inspection of STS Harbor Cranes using the Spot Scan Methodology

Our achievement:

For comprehensive quality control, we inspected all STS harbor cranes using the advanced Spot Scan methodology. This method allows us to carefully visually inspect all critical components of the cranes, accurately mapping any points of concern.

Targeted and Organized Inspection

Based on a pre-defined asset structure for each crane, we organized the inspection, paying specific attention to critical points essential for the safety and performance of the crane. For each inspection point, the angles from which the inspection should be conducted were determined to provide the most complete picture possible.

Precision Inspection with High-Quality Cameras

Using a 4K camera, all points of concern are recorded individually and in detail. This allows us to collect detailed visual data that is entered and processed for each point.

Advanced Reporting in I-Spect

The complete inspection is processed in I-Spect, our innovative platform for inspection data. Using AI technology, the data is automatically analyzed for signs of corrosion, cracks, welds, and missing bolts or nuts. The AI provides an initial selection, after which final validation is performed by experts. This results in a clear final report with actionable recommendations for any follow-up actions.

Continuous Monitoring and Time Savings

A 3D model of the cranes has been created for future use. This model allows for the establishment of automatic flight paths during future inspections, enabling easy comparison and tracking of defects over time. Inspections can also be carried out in less than half the time.

This approach not only ensures the quality and safety of the harbor cranes but also provides the client with a detailed overview, facilitating targeted maintenance.

Regular Inspections

The Spot Scan inspections are repeated annually, or more frequent if necessary, to continually monitor the most essential points of the crane.
