Inspection of the glycerin tank at Oleon

Skyebase has carried out a thorough internal inspection for Oleon of a glycerine tank with a height of 12 meters and a diameter of 8 meters. This inspection was carried out without entering the tank, with an emphasis on maximum safety, accuracy and efficiency.

Inspection methods carried out

  • Visual inspection: Both the roof and the tank casing were carefully visually inspected.
  • Ultrasonic measurements (UT): Ultrasonic measurements were taken on the roof and at various critical points of the mantle to determine the wall thickness.

Applied technology

By using the Elios 3 indoor drone, coupled with a UT probe, extremely accurate wall thickness measurements could be made. At the same time, high-quality visual image capture was obtained. This approach made the inspection quick and safe, and did not require scaffolding or confined space entry.

Result

The inspection carried out resulted in an efficient and reliable assessment, with detailed measurement data and clear image registration. This enables Oleon to adequately assess the structural condition of the tank.
